I'm not the biggest connoisseur of underground mondo films, but seeing the soundtrack to this (Atrax Morgue, Teatro Satanico C.M., Ataraxia...) I had to check it out. In that sense it was not the most rewarding watch, since after many generations the audio was very muffled to the point where it was difficult to tell what artist was playing and when. The video opens up with some footage of what I think is from Mortuary of the Dead (1992) spliced with what I'm assuming is the guy recording his own kitchen pantry. This is all set to the Atrax Morgue track Foundead, which totally set my hopes too high for this 100 minute video. After that we get a drawn out surgery sequence, which gets boring very quick. It ends on a splice of the guy pulling out floss from his mouth, which then cuts to the surgeons suturing up a wound, that admittedly got a chuckle out of me. Rest of the video is filled out with paralympic footage, disabled children, more surgery footage, etc. A bit of sexual gross out stuff and squeamish dentist footage follows, which I suppose was at least a nice change of pace from the other slog. Also a random Dario Argento interview, that I couldn't understand either. Some skateboarding footage too, which is a welcome addition, too (I've been trying to find skate films with underground/noisy soundtracks, and this was surely in the right direction!). The video ends on a couple of nice curiosities: A guy flipping through a text book on forensic medicine, where a more cultured viewer can see the original source image for Atrax Morgue's Black Slaughter. Neat! Final clip of the video is a live performance by the Deviate Ladies (which assume are also played over the end credits) and it another highlight of the soundtrack, since you can actually here what's being played. Quite catchy sounding Sisters of Mercy inspired Italian new wave/gothic rock. Surprised I hadn't come across the band before, but it sounds right up my alley. For an Italian movie, I would've hoped for more Italian crime footage instead of the usual American content, and overall, while the vast majority of the content was a chore to get through, there was some fun moments to it. But not that I can say I've watched, I'm more than content listening to the (much cleaner sounding) soundtrack on it's own. Doing background research about it also exposed me to other very neat looking Italian madness, like the "L'invasione dei pornonauti" short film!
